Placing a debaucherous twist on the Frankenstein story, director Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Bride! sends Frankenstein's Monster (Christian Bale) and his newly undead wife (Jessie Buckley) on a Bonnie and Clyde-style adventure of general lawlessness.
The Bride! director Maggie Gyllenhaal has said her latest film was inspired by a man’s tattoo of The Bride Of Frankenstein which she saw at a party. The 48-year-old’s film is heavily inspired by the 1935 original The Bride Of Frankenstein and sees actress Jessie Buckley play The Bride and Christian Bale play Frankenstein’s Monster.
"The movie is a deep, deep love story about a very imperfect connection. If we're honest, that's every love story," writer-director Gyllenhaal says.
