Placing a debaucherous twist on the Frankenstein story, director Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Bride! sends Frankenstein's Monster (Christian Bale) and his newly undead wife (Jessie Buckley) on a Bonnie and Clyde-style adventure of general lawlessness.

The Bride! director Maggie Gyllenhaal has said her latest film was inspired by a man’s tattoo of The Bride Of Frankenstein which she saw at a party. The 48-year-old’s film is heavily inspired by the 1935 original The Bride Of Frankenstein and sees actress Jessie Buckley play The Bride and Christian Bale play Frankenstein’s Monster.

"The movie is a deep, deep love story about a very imperfect connection. If we're honest, that's every love story," writer-director Gyllenhaal says.

Next up is The Bride, director Maggie Gyllenhaal’s star-studded and punk rock take on Shelley’s world. And just based on the latest footage from it, the film looks like it will be an absolute delight. On Thursday, Warner Bros. Pictures released a new trailer for The Bride, ahead of its debut in theaters this March.
