If you own an older Kindle you may want to check this update
If you’re still using an older Kindle, it may be time to double-check which model you have. Amazon has started notifying some users that support for certain Kindle e-readers and Fire tablets released in 2012 or earlier is coming to an end.
Amazon has announced that all Fire Tablets and Kindle e-readers made before 2012 will no longer be able to purchase e-books as of May, 2026.
While you'll still be able to use your older Kindle after May 20, 2026, Amazon does include one important warning in its email: if you deregister or factory reset the device, you won't be able to register it again. So if you plan to keep reading on your older Kindle, it's best to avoid doing either.
