Earlier this year, the Deaf History Collections website was launched. To celebrate Auslan Day this Saturday 13th April, we asked the launch attendees, “why Deaf history is important to them.” It was beautiful to see the role that Auslan as a language plays in the Deaf community and its significance. Hey, did you know it's Auslan Day? 🥳 The first Auslan (Australian Sign Language) dictionary was published on April 13 1989. Today, April 13 is a celebration of Auslan and recognising the culture and history of the Deaf community.
